Alma Mamas

M4M Alma Mamas serve as a central body invested in ensuring the direction of the community is aligned with the mission and vision set forth.

Alma (/ˈɑːlmə/ AHL-mə) Has several meanings in a variety of languages, and is generally translated to mean that the child "feeds one's soul" or "lifts the spirit". It comes from the latin word almus meaning: kind, nourishing. Most commonly recognized from the phrase alma mater, before its current usage, alma mater was an honorific title for various Latin mother goddesses. In the modern languages of Spanish and Portuguese it is translated as 'soul'.

Kirsten Farney

Co-Creator

Kirsten Farney is a co-creator and leader of Mindfulness for Mamas Kirsten a wife and the mother of Colton (6) and Coral (3). She has a professional background in non-profit development, education, Spanish language interpreting and music. After becoming a mom and experiencing what she refers to as her “dark night of the soul,” Kirsten recognized the essential need for community and contemplative practice on her mothering journey and growing in Love. Haley Deming is a co-creator of Mindfulness for Mamas and Communications Director at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Meredith Adams is a co-creator of Mindfulness for Mamas and a parishioner at St. John’s Episcopal Church. It took Kirsten Farney considerable courage to speak up at a Vestry and Staff retreat to ask permission to develop a mentoring program for mothers. With an authentic display of vulnerability, Kirsten told the group of her struggles after the birth of her children and of her dream of creating a new kind of spiritual community that centered on mutual mentorship, mindfulness and the sacred call of motherhood. Kirsten truly believes that Wisdom and Christ consciousness live within all of us and journeying together we reveal Divine Love to each other. Her willingness to tell her story and express her faith in front of other mothers has been an inspiration to her co-founders and the entire membership of M4M.

Meredith Adams

Co-Creator

Meredith Adams is a co-creator of Mindfulness for Mamas. Meredith grew up in Virginia and moved to Jackson after teaching and practicing law in New York and Virginia. Meredith keeps herself busy with practicing law part-time, substitute teaching and volunteering in the community. In her free time, Meredith enjoys reading and getting outdoors with her husband, their three elementary-age children and many four-legged friends.

Haley Deming

Co-Creator

Haley is a co-creator of Mindfulness for Mamas and single mother of two. Born and raised in the North Georgia mountains, Haley and her family moved to Jackson after experiencing an inspirational 90-minute massage in the Tetons. She is an avid marketing professional and an event planner at heart who excels in details. Her specialties consist of excellent written and verbal communications, a knack for team-leadership, adaptability, decision-making (well, sometimes!), stress tolerance (namaste), collaboration (two heads are better than one), and web content management. Her passions include baking, Pilates, music, reading and travel. When she’s not mom-ing or volunteering, Haley teaches fitness classes at Pursue JH. She has a long history in movement, studied dance growing up, has her Pilates teaching certification. It was a natural transition for Haley to take her skills, knowledge, and passion for movement and become a certified Megaformer instructor. She and her family have been lucky enough to call Jackson home for more than 10 years, and they enjoy living in this amazing community.

Rachel Wigglesworth

Alma Mama

Rachel has a master’s degree (M.Ed.) in Family Education with a Teaching Certificate in Parent Education from the University of Minnesota. She works as a parent educator and parent coach, and is the founder of Growing Great Families. Rachel worked as a doula for over 10 years supporting women and families through childbirth and labor, and during the prenatal and postpartum period.

Rachel also has a Master’s degree in Wildlife Biology and studied coyotes and wolverines in the valleys and mountains of Jackson Hole, WY. This led her to pursue a career in parent education and coaching.

Rachel is the creator of Growing Great Families and is excited to share with parents fascinating information about parenting, child development, and the brain with the goal of supporting parents through the joys and challenges of raising their children.

Alyssa Bones

Alma Mama

Alyssa is a stay at home mama of two (Bowman, 5, and Seeley, under a year). She's always looking for pockets of quiet to write and her perpetually missing, cooling, cup of coffee. Prior to making the decision to stay home with her kids, she worked in wildland fire and public health emergency management. She has a B.S. in Recreation Management from the University of Montana and is passionate about conservation, national parks, and teaching kids about nature. She blogs about life as a wildland fire family, the outdoors, and motherhood at www.campbones.com. Her family can be found usually outside, on or near the water, in Jackson Hole, WY.

Heather DeVine

Alma Mama

Heather DeVine is a wife, mother, creator, and love spreader in the Jackson Hole area. Heather moved to Jackson from Richmond, Virginia with her husband Mike in 2011. Their love for the wide open spaces kept them here to stay. She works as a Creative Director at Gliffen Designs - she loves to help businesses grow. She enjoys hiking, skiing, journaling, running and dancing. She LOVES writing letters to her friends and family so naturally she started People Spread Love. She started PSL in 2015, a movement that spreads love to people facing adversity through notes of love written by volunteer community members. Heather helped energize PSL in Jackson and watched it grow outwardly into hundreds of communities in the US and worldwide.

Heather is a proud mother of Elliott. She wants to support other mothers that need a little compassion and love as it transforms their lives. Mindfulness for Mamas has been a tremendous support for her as she was reborn into a mother, a completely new her to discover. These continued lessons of self-compassion makes it possible to get through the difficult days and triumph during the good days.

She is happily situated in Jackson with her husband, son and her brown dog, Sadie (who when she’s at the office accompanies her).
